In the summer of 1991, I moved from sunny Florida to South Dakota without knowing what the winters were like. My first experience with snow was the famous October 31 blizzard in '91. I attended the University of South Dakota and I completed my Bachelor of Science degree in Business / Accounting in December 1993. After graduation I spent about 7 years in Public Accounting, focused mostly on the Financial and Auditing aspects. I spent a short time in Corporate Accounting and then in 2002, I began alternating my time with two small businesses in Sioux Falls and handled their accounting and human resource needs. Currently, I am still working for one of those organizations and have thoroughly loved helping them grow and succeed over the past 20 years.
My parents still reside in Florida and also spend the hot humid months in Myrtle Beach, SC. My husband Tad and I have been married since August 2006. We have a most-wonderful Boxer, named Dax and a rescue cat, named Precious. Tad and I are also blessed to have his family nearby including three beautiful grandchildren.
We love to be active with bike riding, dog-related activities and traveling to see family. We are both very active in the community and with our church. I formerly served on the board of Alpha Center and remain active with them in many ways. For many years I have also served as Treasurer for an organization that sponsors Rodeo Bible Camp. I am an active Patriot who loves the United States of America and also the State of South Dakota. Tad and I also enjoy exercising our 2nd Amendment rights by spending time at the gun range.
Like many of you, I have dedicated a lot of time and energy over the past year and a half to understanding the fragile framework of our political system. And again, like many of you, I have concluded that now, more than ever, it is absolutely vital for those who hold positions of authority to have values that include INTEGRITY, HONESTY, and TRANSPARENCY. So I am stepping forward to do my part. I promise to work hard with and for the people of Minnehaha County, demonstrating these values on all levels. Election INTEGRITY begins at the local level. Voting in the United States is a privilege and duty. We must protect every vote that is cast and make sure all of our systems are secure.
I would be honored to receive your vote in the General Election on November 8th.
